Helton & Williamsen, P.C. is in search of a full-time employee (Water Resources Engineer, Agricultural Engineer, or Hydrologist) with a desire to build a career in water resources engineering in Colorado. Duties would include:
Communicate with clients, their attorneys, and State officials regarding management of water supplies and compliance with Water Court decrees;
Interview agricultural, municipal, and industrial water users on-site to assess historical water use, and current and future water needs;
Obtain water resources data (e.g., stream flow, diversion, administrative call, water level, reservoir, climate, soil, crop, topographic and geologic, and land ownership) from a variety of sources; assist in analyzing and interpreting the data for calculation of historical consumptive use, groundwater flow and stream depletions/accretions, characterization of stream flows, quantifying water available in-priority to existing and new water rights;
Prepare and analyze technical reports and other correspondence;
Interpret legal documents, rules, and statutes;
Occasionally testify as an expert witness in Water Court proceedings; present project information to ditch- or reservoir company boards or Town Councils.
The ideal candidate will:
Have excellent written and oral communication skills;
Be proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel;
Be able to analyze and visualize data to address complex water issues;
Be familiar with the environmental, social, and economic aspects of water supply and utilization, as well as principles and methods associated with the development of water resource management such as basic hydrology, water budgets, water use trends and practices;
Balance, prioritize, and organize multiple tasks;
Effectively manage their own workload, projects, and client base, yet be a team player; and
Desire to work long-term in a small business environment for a solid, long-term client base.
Requirements:
Helton & Williamsen, P.C. is seeking resumes from qualified individuals (Civil/Water Resources/Agricultural Engineers, or Hydrologists) for an entry level position. Must be a registered E.I., or equivalent certification, or be able to obtain it within 1 year of the date of hire. The new employee must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word. Familiarity with ArcGIS and MS 365 (including SharePoint) is helpful. A background in agriculture is beneficial.
Salary and Benefits:
$65,000 - $85,000 per year depending on qualifications and experience
